I have loved music since I was a young child. At the ripe old age of thirty-four, I still do. Honestly, I do not consider myself old. Every now and again though, there are moments with music that I start to feel just a tad bit ancient.
Here are five moments that make me feel just a little bit older than I used to:
- The classic rock stations have started playing songs that were popular when I was in high school! (I don't care what they say, Def Leppard is NOT classic rock yet)
- I hear myself say "Turn that down". (Holy crap, did I just say that?)
- My son tries to control the radio in the vehicle. (Fighting that tooth and nail, MY turn is not over yet!)
- Every now and again, I feel the need for utter peace and quiet so I turn the radio off. (When in the hell did THAT happen???)
- I draw a total blank on who sings a song that I have know forever. (What happened to rolling it off my tongue on the very FIRST note??)
How about you? Any music related moments that make you feel your "old" age?
Do me a favor and crank this song in rebellion with me!! Here is "Rock Of Ages" by Def Leppard (who is NOT classic rock....yet!) Let's start it out....Gunter glieben glauchen globen .....

Now that was a perfect "I HAVE GO TO BLAST IT" Song...
You must convert your son, to YOUR music. It works.
My very cool son, is now 16, and actually went with me to a recent ColdPlay concert, at the Forum in L.A.
It was awesome:-)
I know I'm going to start getting scared when songs that were popular when I was growing up start getting sold on CD compilations that have a title like "Totally Rock!" or something stupid like that.
Also, watch out for Nick at Nite. They might start playing shows that were popular when you were a kid.
I feel your pain...
Mind you, it kinda tickles me when I see teenagers raving about the latest 'really cool new tune' and it's one that was a hit first time around when I was the teenager in the 70s...
:-)

We have a huge array of music in our house, my 17 yo, loves all the OLD music, as in Grand Funk/Zeppelin and more..
I popped on the stereo the other day..and heard..
Rod Stewart - Do you think I am sexy.. I remember that debut from 8th grade.. holy smokes!
I feel old when I talk about having albums on tapes and my friend's daughters asking me, "What's a tape, Auntie?"
I know I'm old because new bands are starting to do covers of songs I listened to in highschool. Yikes!
Wow, don't I feel old. theneedledrop, I think that has already happened to me quite a few times over.
My 13 year old son thinks what I listen to is ancient.
I have to say everything I listen to has a bit of the 50s, 60s & 70s floating around somewhere in the song.
I guess I better move over and make way for the new classic rock....
All of those things make me feel old as well as the relearning of John Jacob Jingleheimersmith. On top of that i think I'm turning into my mom. She is stuck on her music from the 70's and I'm stuck on 80's and 90's. I don't like much else.
Next thing you know, you will be listening to Michael Bolton & Celine Dion--------and the horror of it all----Barry Manilow.
34 I thought you were 25 sorry
Hey I got to see Def Leppard and they were killer.Back then I worked for marriot and they did the food for the little war memorial in Rochester when ANY concert came you just had to ask the BIG BOSS and she would get you 4 tickets everytime
The job sucked but not seeing Tesla every night Metallica many times Aerosmith Def Leppard and a whole slew of bands.
Damn now I want to go to a concert:) Thanks for stopping by
Santa sent me ;)
#6: Saturday night fever is watch TV and enjoy a glas of wine.
I was okay with the 70's being "retro-cool" but not the 80's. It just hits too close to home. Besides bubble skirts, members only jackets, and those fake-old concert tour t-shits from before most of the kids wearing them were even born... dude, seriously?
