I have referenced the Eagles as a group and Don Henley by himself many times on here. The Eagles are my favorite group and I appreciate every member. I like the songs where Glenn Frey is the lead singer as well as the songs sung by Timothy B. Schmidt, Joe Walsh and Randy Meisner. But Don...... well he is just my favorite.
Some of the songs by Don Henley I have mentioned here have been Heart Of The Matter, Dirty Laundry and Get Over It. My favorite song of all time is Hotel California. Now, I would like to pay tribute to three of my very favorite Don Henley songs.
The first song is by the Eagles with Don as the lead singer. While it is not my favorite Eagles' song (although it is in my top 5), it is my favorite song sung by Don that showcases his voice. It is "Best Of My Love".
The next song came out in 1989. It is "The End Of The Innocence" from Don's third album titled the same. This was his best selling album which sold over 6 million copies. It is on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. This song held a lot of meaning for me at the time it was released and foretold changes in my life that were soon to come.
The last song is also off of the album "The End Of The Innocence" and is titled "The Last Worthless Evening". It was a very popular song and reached #21 on U.S. charts. When I hear this song, I automatically go back to the time I was 15 and sick for over a month with a combination of the flu and bronchitis. I watched VH1 nonstop. I think this video was permanently embedded in my fevered brain. Despite the fact that it reminds me of being sick, I do love this song! (Although I am not putting this video up, another very notable song from "The End Of The Innocence" album is New York Minute. Simply brilliant.)
I think I could go on and on about Don Henley's singing, the Eagles and how much I love their music and what it means to me. In fact, I am sure at some point, I will. For now, I would like to thank Don and every single member of the Eagles for blessing my life with their music. Enough from me for now. What does any of it mean to you?

Hello Kelly
It was really nice to read and be reminded of the music I was pretty much raised with. My parents are music lovers and Eagles fans. So Eagles were played all the time at home and I inherited their fascination for the band. Don Henleys voice is unique, and its impossible not to recognize it.
I will never forget the moments we sat down and listen to Eagles, and especially in the winter time their songs had a certain warming glow. If I couldn't sleep at night I sat down alone or with one of may parents and listen to the calm vocals of Eagles. Don Henley has always been my favorite lead singer in the band with special place in my heart.
Days are busy and I haven't played much of Eagles for while. So when I found the link to "tribute to the great Don Henley" I was thrilled. Lots of nice memories came back to me and sat down and enjoyed their great music again.
Thank you for this post Kelly, I do hope you publish more articles about the Eagles later on.
Take care,
Lisa (Mixx)
PS. I have sent a bookmark to my parents about your site, they will probably come rushing over soon :o)
@Lisa: Thanks so much for stopping by from Mixx. It is really cool how we both have similar backgrounds in music. To this day, if I am feeling bad or apprehensive, listening to an Eagles' song will always make me feel like everything is going to be just fine. Don't you worry..... the Eagles' are such a part of me that they always find their way to my blog :) Talk to you later Lisa!
Oh see that girl Lisa I was trying to friend her on the mixx.

I hope I didn't mess up our friendship :0)ouch
@John Sullivan...what an odd commentary for this page. Anyway. L O V E the Eagles. There are times that I think New Kid In Town might just be an actually perfect song. What an amazing bunch of songwriters and artists, one of the greatest American bands.
agree with you 100 % Kelly. i love "the eagles" and in particular Don Henley. what a singer.. hats off..... one of my all time favs is"hotel california" . i love "end of the innocence" , "dirty laundry" , "last resort" and "no more cloudy days". Don's voice is one of the best i've heard in my life. although these guys were a 70's group (if i am not mistaken), i think they will fit into any era.. i really can't get enough of eagles and don henley. take a bow...
Wow, honestly I have never known someone who is as big an Eagles fan as I am. Most of my friends are just into what's popular on the radio now, stuff like Nickelback and all that. But it looks like you're an even bigger fan than me! Great post, keep the music playing =]
